COMPLETE RESULTS
MANCHESTER,
N.H. – Junior Emma Lundberg
(Hebron, N.H.) finished first overall in a field of 67 runners to
lead the Southern New Hampshire University women's cross
country team to a second-place finish among seven schools competing
in the Shacklette Invitational hosted by Saint Anselm College
Saturday morning. The meet marked the season opener for the
Penmen.
Lundberg finished the
five-kilometer course in 19:17, 18 seconds ahead of runner-up
Katharine Meinertz of Saint Anselm. The mark is tied for
second-best in program history, and Lundberg now owns the top four
times on the all-time school list.
Senior Melissa
Hurley (Ashaway, R.I.) had the next highest finish for the
Penmen, as she placed ninth overall with a time of 20:49. Sophomore
Christina Montefusco (Danvers, Mass.) finished
12th with a time 20:56, and freshman Madeline
Hayes (Newington, Conn.) placed 15th overall
with a 21:04 time in her first collegiate race.
Fellow freshman Christina
Powell (Granby, Mass.) ran a time of 21:57 to finish
26th overall, while junior Jacquelyn
Dussault (Manchester, N.H.) finished 41st with
a time of 22:59 and freshman Kelsey Parker
(Tewksbury, Mass.) finished 45th with a 23:17
effort.
Freshman Cassandra
Dolan (Manchester, N.H.) finished with a time of 25:39,
and classmate Laura DiPietro (Auburn, N.H.)
rounded out the Penmen finishers with a time of 26:29.
Southern New Hampshire returns to
action next Saturday in the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.
