Lundberg Betters Own School Record, Women's Cross Country 14th at UMass Dartmouth Invitational

DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Buoyed by a sixth-place finish by junior Emma Lundberg (Hebron, N.H.), the Southern New Hampshire University women's cross country team finished 14th out of 39 schools at Saturday's UMass Dartmouth Shriners Invitational.

Lundberg, who was named the Northeast-10 Runner of the Week on Tuesday, bettered her own school record with an 18:16 5K effort.  She bested her previous record of 19:03 established at last season's Pop Crowell Invitational.

Freshman Madeline Hayes (Newington, Conn.) was the next-highest finisher for SNHU, placing 75th with a time of 20:03.  Melissa Hurley (Ashaway, R.I.) was 93rd with a 20:17 effort, while Christina Montefusco (Danvers, Mass.) posted a time of 20:20 to come in 97th overall. 

Christina Powell (Granby, Mass.) ran a 21:34 to come in 181stJacquelyn Dussault (Manchester, N.H.) finished seven seconds back of Powell to place 189th.

The Southern New Hampshire University women's cross country team returns to action next Saturday when it competes at the Codfish Bowl at Boston's Franklin Park.
