Chandronnait (Bow, N.H.) of the Southern New Hampshire
University women's tennis team captured her third straight USTA/ITA
East Regional singles title on Monday. With the win, she
advances to the National Small College Championships in Mobile,
Alabama October 14-17, which pits the eight Division II regional
winners against each other.
In Monday's semifinal round,
Chandronnait topped Juliana Victoria of Holy Family University 7-5,
6-1 in the semifinals. In the championship, she dropped the
first set 6-3 to Laura Mocodaenu of Queens (N.Y.) College before
rallying to take the next two sets 6-1 and 7-6 (4).
Also on Monday, the doubles tandem
of Catalina
Echeverry (Cali, Colombia) and Kara Pease
(Falmouth, Mass.) fell in the finals of the B doubles draw to
Kaitlyn Martin and Leah White of Stonehill College 8-6.
