MANCHESTER, N.H. – A total of five Southern New Hampshire University men's soccer players were recently named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-East Region team.  Junior Chris Tsonis (Dartmouth, Mass.) was a First Team selection, while graduate student Jon Brockway (Lebanon, N.H.), senior Joey Kapinos (Ludlow, Mass.) and junior Ruben Resendes (Fall River, Mass.) were Second Team choices.  Senior Jayme Kapinos (Ludlow, Mass.) was named to the Third Team.

Tsonis, who was a Daktronics Honorable Mention All-America selection as well as a Northeast-10 First Team All-Conference choice, established himself as one of the top offensive threats in Division II this season.  He led the Northeast-10 in scoring with 17 goals and four assists for 38 points, which placed Tsonis fifth nationally in total goals and 11th nationally in total points.  A three-time Northeast-10 Player of the Week, Tsonis recorded eight game-winning goals this season.

Joey Kapinos started 11 games in goal for Southern New Hampshire in 2011, posting a 0.65 goals-against average and .833 save percentage with four shutouts.  He earned Northeast-10 Goalkeeper of the Week honors on October 31 after making five saves in a road shutout win at Bridgeport.  Kapinos ended his career by setting the program record for lowest career GAA in program history (0.40).

Resendes, who was a Daktronics All-Region and Northeast-10 First Team All-Conference selection, was one of three players to start all 22 games for the Penmen.  He led the team and the Northeast-10 with 11 assists and totaled three goals and 11 assists for the season, ranking seventh nationally in assists.

Brockway and Jayme Kapinos, who were both Daktronics Second Team All-Region and NE-10 First Team All-Conference selections, anchored a defensive unit that posted 12 shutouts in 22 games and ranked eighth nationally in team goals-against average (0.63).  Brockway, who served as a team captain, started all 21 games in which he appeared and totaled a goal and an assist.  Kapinos started all 22 games and finished with four assists.  He ended his career as the program's all-time leader in games played with 86.

The Southern New Hampshire University men's soccer team finished the season with an 18-4 record, recording its most victories since the 2002 season.  The Penmen advanced to the Northeast-10 championship game for the first time since 2008 and reached the NCAA Division II quarterfinals for the ninth time in program history and second time in three seasons.  SNHU finished the season ranked No. 7 in the final NSCAA Division II national poll.
