Women's Lacrosse Eases Past Fort Lewis 23-7

MANCHESTER, N.H. –Freshman Justine Clark (Oceanside, N.Y.) totaled seven goals and an assist to lead Southern New Hampshire University to a 23-7 victory over Fort Lewis College in women's lacrosse Thursday afternoon.  The Penmen improved to 2-1 on the season, while the Skyhawks are now 0-3.

Sara Halbich (Salem, N.H.) totaled four goals for SNHU, while Emily Mongeau (Westborough, Mass.) registered three goals, six assists and 10 draw controls.  Jade Antonangeli (Bourne, Mass.) notched three goals and four assists, while Ellie Morin (Scarborough, Maine) added three goals.  Phoebe Clark (Concord, N.H.) finished with two goals and an assist, while Kayleigh Dube (Bourne, Mass.) scored a goal and two assists.

With her 10 draw controls, Mongeau became SNHU's all-time leader in that category.  Her 148 career draw controls are one more than Julie Kraus, who played from 2006-09.

Abby Kvidera led Fort Lewis with three goals, while Jessica Norby totaled two goals and four assists.

Southern New Hampshire led 2-1 when it ran off eight unanswered goals to take a 10-1 lead with 8:02 remaining in the first half on a goal by Justine Clark.  Paige Juneau scored 5:12 before halftime to make it 10-2, but the Penmen would score the final four goals of the half to take a 14-2 halftime lead.  The hosts scored the first four goals of the second half to build an 18-2 advantage.

Hannah Moriarty (Chelmsford, Mass.) played the first 49:34 in goal for SNHU and made eight saves while letting in five goals.  Shayla Walden (Warren, R.I.) played the final 10:26 and made two saves and allowed two goals.  Genna Waugh played the first half in goal for the Skyhawks and made 10 saves before giving way to Shelby Wichkoski, who made 10 saves the rest of the way.  Southern New Hampshire outshot Fort Lewis 52-19 and had a 22-10 edge in draw controls.

Southern New Hampshire returns to action Saturday when it hosts No. 2 C.W. Post in a 1:00 contest at Larkin Field.
