Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

WORCESTER, Mass. –Assumption College swept a Northeast-10 baseball doubleheader from Southern New Hampshire University by scores of 9-2 and 7-4 on Saturday afternoon at Rocheleau Field.  The Greyhounds improved to 5-10 and 2-0 in the NE-10, while the Penmen are now 9-10 and 0-2 in the league.

In the nightcap, Assumption scored seven runs in the top of the ninth (SNHU was playing as the home team as the games were scheduled to be played in Manchester) to erase a 4-0 lead.  The big hit for the Greyhounds was a triple off the bat of Mike Foley that drove in three runs.  Assumption collected three hits in the inning, but took advantage of a pair of SNHU errors as well as two walks and a wild pitch.

SNHU took a 1-0 lead in the second then added two runs in the third.  A double by Patrick Copp (Greely, Maine) scored Jon Massad (Shrewsbury, Mass.), who had reached on a two-out single.  In the third, a two-run double by Bobby Wronski (Arlington, Mass.) scored Tim Rines (Merrimack, N.H.) and Matt Boulter (Wrentham, Mass.).

The Penmen would make it 4-0 in the sixth.  Copp would drive in his second run of the game when his single to left scored Chris O'Neil (Chelmsford, Mass.), who worked a leadoff walk.

Rines went 4-5 at the plate in the opener for the Penmen, while Boulter finished with three hits and Copp two.  Ryan Walfield (Stratford, N.H.) took the loss for the Penmen, allowing five runs (one earned) in 0.2 innings of relief.  Timothy Flight (Portsmouth, R.I.) turned in a stellar effort in his start on the hill for SNHU, fanning 13 in 8.1 innings of work while getting charged with a pair of earned runs.  He scattered five hits, as the Penmen outhit Assumption 13-6.

In the opener, Assumption jumped out to a 2-1 lead after two innings and held a 5-1 lead after a three-run fifth.  SNHU got its first run in the second when O'Neil led off the frame with a home run to right.  The other SNHU run came in the sixth when Wronski scored on a wild pitch after getting hit by a pitch to get on base.

O'Neil led SNHU with three hits in the opener.  Brad Monroe (Hampton, Falls, N.H.) went five innings and allowed six hits and five runs while fanning five.  Zach LeBarron (Bennington, Vt.) worked two innings of scoreless relief before Sam Fuller (Barre, Vt.) went the final two innings.
