GOFFSTOWN, N.H. – In a meeting between two teams previously unbeaten in Northeast-10 play, No. 36 Southern New Hampshire University posted an 8-1 win over Adelphi University in women's tennis Saturday night at the Allard Center. The Penmen improved to 7-2 overall and 6-0 in the NE-10, while the Panthers are now 9-2 and 4-1 in the league. It marked SNHU's 23rd-straight Northeast-10 regular season victory.
Senior Amber Chandronnait (Bow, N.H.), the 18th-ranked singles play in Division II, earned a pair of key victories. She defeated No. 49 Maria Toft at No. 1 singles 6-2, 6-1, and in doubles play teamed with Catalina Echeverry (Cali, Colombia) for a 8-3 win over Toft and Alda Ribeiro, the No. 4 doubles tandem in the East Region.
The Penmen swept doubles, as Alena Mukdaprakorn (Hartford, Conn.) and Kirsten Jean (Bedford, N.H.) were 8-6 winners at No. 2 and Samantha Jean (Bedford, N.H.) and Kara Pease (Falmouth, Mass.) were 8-3 winners at No.3. Mukdaprakorn, Echeverry, Kirsten Jean and Pease were also singles winners.
SNHU returns to action Saturday, April 2, when it travels to The College of Saint Rose for a noon match.
