MANCHESTER, N.H. – Top-seeded Southern New Hampshire University posted a 5-0 win over No. 8 seed The College of Saint Rose in the quarterfinals of the Northeast-10 Women's Tennis Championship Monday afternoon. The Penmen, who advance to the NE-10 semifinals for the fourth straight season, improve to 15-2 overall. The Golden Knights, who were making their first-ever appearance in the NE-10 Tournament, see their season come to a close at 6-8.
SNHU will host a semifinal match on Wednesday at 2:00 between the winner of fourth-seeded Saint Michael's and fifth-seeded Bentley.
The Penmen were up 2-0 entering the match as Saint Rose defaulted at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles. In doubles action, Amber Chandronnait (Bow, N.H.) and Catalina Echeverry (Cali, Colombia) were 8-0 winners at No. 1, while Kirsten Jean (Bedford, N.H.) and Alena Mukdaprakorn (Hartford, Conn.) were 8-1 winners at No. 2. In singles play, Echeverry clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Erin Reeg at No. 3 singles.
