PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Southern New Hampshire University and Pace University halved a Northeast-10 baseball doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Finnerty Field.  The Setters recorded a walkoff, 4-3 victory in the opener before the Penmen outslugged the hosts for an 11-3 win in the nightcap.  The Penmen are 10-13 and 1-5 in the NE-10, while the Setters are 8-12-1 and 2-5 in the league.

In game two, SNHU trailed 2-1 after one inning, but scored four runs in the third and three in the fourth to build an 8-1 lead.  In the third, Jamie Wollerman (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.) led off the inning with a home run.  Following an out, the Penmen received four straight singles from Chris O'Neil (Chelmsford, Mass.), Matt Boulter (Wrentham, Mass.), Robert Wronski (Arlington, Mass.) and Jon Massad (Shrewsbury, Mass.).  Wronski and Massad recorded RBIs while Wronski scored when Kevin Spatkowski (Bristol, Conn.) reached on a fielder's choice.

In the fourth, an O'Neil double scored Wollerman, who worked a one-out walk, while a single up the middle by Boulter scored Albert Stanton (Sandwich, Mass.) and O'Neil.

The Penmen tacked on three runs in the ninth, with Spatkowski delivering an RBI single and Tim Rines (Merrimack, N.H.) hitting a two-run double to center.

Boulter and Massad led the Penmen with three hits apiece as eight of the nine SNHU batters had at least two hits as the guests outhit Pace 18-7.  Timothy Flight (Portsmouth, R.I.) went eight innings on the mound to earn the victory, fanning seven while scattering seven hits.  Alex Powers (Brewster, Mass.) worked a 1-2-3 ninth in relief.

In the opener, the Penmen took a 1-0 lead in the first.  Wollerman reached on a one-out single and scored on a Pace throwing error when O'Neil singled.  The Setters tied the game in the bottom of the second, but SNHU scored twice in the top of the seventh.  A Massad double played Wronski, while Massad would score on a single to center by Juan Amador (Derry, N.H.).  Pace scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game 3-3.

SNHU nearly took the lead back in the top of the ninth as it loaded the bases with two out, however Pace reliever Jonathan Hornung struck out Stanton to end the threat.  The Setters would win the game in the bottom of the ninth on Kyle Turnier's two-out walkoff double that plated Chris Roemer.

Wronski led the Penmen with two hits in the opener.  Junior Mendez (Patchogue, N.Y.) took the loss in relief, allowing three hits in 2.1 innings of work.  SNHU starter Brad Monroe (Hampton Falls, N.H.) went 6.1 innings and allowed four hits and three runs, striking out five but walking five.

SNHU returns to action Wednesday when it hosts Saint Anselm in a 3:30 non-conference contest.
