MANCHESTER, N.H. –Colleen Strachan totaled three goals and five assists as No. 12 Merrimack College posted a 21-14 win over Southern New Hampshire University in Northeast-10 women's lacrosse Wednesday afternoon at Larkin Field.  The Warriors improved to 7-4 overall and 5-3 in the NE-10, while the Penmen saw a three-game win streak snapped and are now 5-3 and 3-1 in league play.

Mary Pasquantonio totaled four goals and an assist for Merrimack, while Christina McCarron added four goals.  Alicia Tinsley registered three goals and a pair of assists.

Emily Mongeau (Westborough, Mass.) led Southern New Hampshire with five goals and an assist.  She also recorded eight draw controls, six ground balls and four caused turnovers.  Sara Halbich (Salem, N.H.) recorded three goals and an assist, while Ellie Morin (Scarborough, Maine) finished with two goals and two assists.  Phoebe Clark (Concord, N.H.) and Kayleigh Dube (Bourne, Mass.) each notched a goal and an assist, while Jade Antonangeli (Bourne, Mass.) and Justine Clark (Oceanside, N.Y.) added single tallies.

Southern New Hampshire trailed 11-9 at halftime and pulled within 11-10 2:26 into the second half on a goal by Mongeau.  Merrimack pulled away by scoring seven of the game's next eight goals, and a Tinsley tally with 11:50 remaining made it 18-11.  The Penmen would score the next two goals to make it an 18-13 game with 9:52 left, but would get no closer.

The Warriors held a 6-5 lead 10 minutes into the game before the Penmen reeled off four unanswered goals to build a 9-6 lead with 15:02 to play on a Mongeau goal.  The guests would close the half on a 5-0 run and Tinsley's goal 55 seconds before intermission gave Merrimack an 11-9 halftime lead.

Merrimack goalie Inna Hedden made 17 saves, while Hannah Moriarty (Chelmsford, Mass.) turned aside seven shots for Southern New Hampshire.  The Penmen outshot the Warriors 38-25, while the guests claimed 20 of 37 draw controls.

Southern New Hampshire plays its second-straight nationally-ranked opponent Saturday when it travels to No. 3 Le Moyne College for an 11:00 am contest.
