LONGMEADOW, Mass. – Southern New Hampshire University opened the spring portion of its schedule with a 9-0 Northeast-10 women's tennis victory over Pace University Friday at the Meadows Racquet Club. The Penmen remained unbeaten on the season, moving to 6-0 and 5-0 in the NE-10, while the Setters are 0-5 overall and in the league.
The win marks SNHU's 35th consecutive Northeast-10 regular season victory dating back to the 2008-09 season. The Penmen are now tied with Bryant University for the third-longest regular season win streak in conference history. The Bulldogs won 35 straight NE-10 matches from 2002 to April, 2006.
Alena Mukdaprakorn (Hartford, Conn.) prevailed in the closest match of the day, posting a 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) win over Simona Mrazova at No. 1 singles. Southern New Hampshire dropped a total of five games in the other five singles matches and four games in doubles play.
Southern New Hampshire takes on Division I Stony Brook University Sunday in a 1:00 match being played at Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H.
