Box Score

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Meghan Smith scored seven times to lead 13th-ranked Saint Anselm College to a 19-17 Northeast-10 women's lacrosse victory over Southern New Hampshire University Tuesday afternoon at Larkin Field.  The Hawks improved to 4-5 and 2-3 in the NE-10, while the Penmen are now 1-6 and 1-4 in the league, with five of those losses coming to nationally-ranked foes.

Britini Hickman added three goals and three assists for the Hawks, who also got two goals apiece from Marissa Daly, Kaitlyn Stazinski, and Kelly Pickett.

Emily Mongeau (Westborough, Mass.) paced Southern New Hampshire with five goals and a pair of assists, while Ellie Morin (Scarborough, Maine) finished with three goals and three assists for the Penmen.  Kayleigh Dube (Bourne, Mass.) and Phoebe Clark (Concord, N.H.) each added two goals and an assist while Sara Halbich (Salem, N.H.) and Justine Clark (Oceanside, N.Y.) netted two goals apiece.  Emily King (Florence, Mass.) had the other SNHU tally.

Saint Anselm trailed 11-10 at halftime and 14-11 five minutes into the second half when it scored three times in a span of 1:38 to tie the game 14-14 on a Daly free position goal with 22:28 left.  King scored at the 20:16 mark to give the hosts a 15-14 advantage, but the Hawks scored three straight, and a Smith free position tally with 9:52 to go gave Saint Anselm a 17-15 lead.

Justine Clark scored with 9:04 on the clock to make it 17-16, but STA's Lauren Alfis scored 1:11 later to reclaim a two-goal lead for her team.  Morin scored with 6:44 left to again make it a one-goal game.  Saint Anselm controlled the ensuing draw and maintained possession for much of the remainder of the game before Hickman added an insurance tally with just under a minute left.

Southern New Hampshire stormed out to a 4-0 lead 7:15 into the game before the Hawks scored the game's next three goals to pull within one with just over 19 minutes left before halftime.  Goals by Mongeau and Halbich 18 seconds apart game the Penmen a 6-3 lead with 18:34 left before the teams traded the contest's next eight goals.  Saint Anselm scored twice to pull within one with 3:27 before halftime, and the Penmen went into intermission with an 11-10 lead.

Katherine Amato played the entire first half and all but the first 5:05 of the second half in goal for Saint Anselm and made nine saves, while Allee Ramzi made one save and allowed three goals to open the second stanza.  Kellie Renk (Kennebunk, Maine) made eight saves for Southern New Hampshire, which eked out a 31-30 shot advantage.

Southern New Hampshire faces its sixth nationally-ranked opponent of the season Saturday when it travels to No. 15 Molloy College for a 1:00 contest.
