Box Score

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Seventh-ranked Southern New Hampshire University plated eight runs in the first four innings en route to an 8-1 Northeast-10 baseball victory over Saint Michael's College Thursday evening at Penmen Field.  The Penmen have won five in a row to improve to 30-4 and 6-1 in NE-10 Northeast Division play, while the Purple Knights now stand 7-17 and 1-6 in the division.

Matt Boulter (Wrentham, Mass.) (pictured) went 3-4 with a double and a pair of runs driven in for Southern New Hampshire, while Bryan Toland (Wildwood, N.J.) and Jamie Wollerman (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.) each had a pair of hits, with Toland knocking in three runs.  Brendan O'Brien (East Bridgewater, Mass.) also drove in two runs, while Kevin Spatkowski (Bristol, Conn.) extended his hit streak to 11 games with a fourth-inning double.

Brad Monroe (Hampton, N.H.) upped his record on the mound to 6-1 with eight innings of shutout baseball, only allowing two hits while fanning 11.  Lucas Olen (Bedford, N.H.) worked the ninth and gave up a run.

Toland made it 2-0 in the bottom of the first when his two-out single brought home Boulter and Spatkowski.  The Penmen tacked on two runs in the third, with Boulter's double to left scoring Spatkowski, who had been hit by a pitch, from first base.  Toland made it 4-0 by singling up the middle to bring in Boulter.

Southern New Hampshire upped its lead to 8-0 with four runs in the fourth.  O'Brien singled to the gap in left-center to bring in Wollerman and Riley Palmer (Goffstown, N.H.), which was followed by Spatkowski's RBI double to left to bring in O'Brien.  Boulter closed out the scoring when his single to right plated Spatkowski.

Southern New Hampshire hosts Stonehill College this weekend in a pivotal series pitting the top two teams in the NE-10 Northeast Division standings against each other.  The Penmen and Skyhawks will play a noon doubleheader on Saturday and a 6:00 contest Sunday evening.
