MANCHESTER, N.H. - With a doubles win this afternoon, Alena Mukdaprakorn (Hartford, Conn.) tied the all-time career doubles wins with 64 in Southern New Hampshire women's tennis program history. Mukdaprakorn now moves up to the number one spot alongside 2011 Penmen graduate Catalina Echeverry. Echeverry is also second in career-singles wins with 63, while Mukdaprakorn trails just three wins behind.
The Penmen defeated the Greyhounds of Assumption College Wednesday night 9-0 to grab their second win of the season and second in the Northeast-10 Conference. SNHU is now 2-0, while the Greyhounds fall to 0-4.
Mukdaprakorn and Diana Vamvakitis (Wading River, N.Y.) triumphed in the No. 1 doubles position over Assumption's Erica Micciche and Meg Hall with an 8-4 score. The Penmen second and third doubles would also defeat the Greyhounds by scores of 8-1 each.
In singles play, Mukdaprakorn would get the win over Assumptions No. 1 single player Micciche with scores of 6-0 and 6-0. No. 2 Vamvakitis also got a win over the Greyhound's second single player, Paige Gilet. SNHU was successful in all of the other singles competitions en route to the 9-0 sweep.
The Penmen return to action on Friday, September 21 when they travel to Goldey-Beacom for a non-conference match at 12:00 p.m. The match will be the weekend opener for the Penmen who will also compete in the ITA Regional Tournament Saturday, September 22 through September 24.
