NASHUA, N.H.- The Southern New Hampshire
women's cross country team finished 4th out of
nine
teams today at the Rivier University Invitational. Two Penmen
runners set career-best and program records during the 5k race.
Madeline Hayes (Newington, Conn.) and
Stacey Wojcik (Wrentham, Mass.) both finished
amongst the top ten while amassing program best 5k times.
Hayes, who tied the program's second fastest time and set
a personal-best time of 18:52 last week at the UMass Dartmouth
Invitational, broke her own record Friday while placing
2nd overall. She moves to second in the record books
while running an 18:42 5k. Hayes falls 26 seconds shy of 2012
graduate Emma Lundberg's program-best 18:16 5k time.
Wojcik, a freshman, set her personal-best 5k time of 19:01 while
finishing in 7th place among 101 runners. Wojcik's
5k time places her fourth all-time in the program in fastest 5k
time. Wojcik remains behind Lundberg by just eight seconds.
Christina Montefusco (Danvers, Mass.) and
Kelsey Parker (Tewksbury, Mass.) also finished in
the top half of the race while placing 29th and
38th, respectively. Montefusco ran the 5k in 20:48,
while Parker finished in 21:11.
The Penmen return to action Saturday, September 29 when they
compete in the Pop Crowell Invitational at Gordon College. The race
is set to start at 10:45 a.m.
