MANCHESTER, N.H. – Senior Maddie
Hayes (Newington, Conn.) set a personal-record time of
19:04 to help lead the Southern New Hampshire women's cross
country team to a program-best 5th place finish at the Northeast-10
Championship Sunday afternoon.
The fifth-place finish marks a new program-best as the team
placed its highest at 6th back at the 2010 league
championship.
Hayes earned herself a spot on the Third Team All-Conference
after finishing the 5k 15th. Not trailing far behind Hayes, was
freshman Laura O'Hanlon (Dedham, Mass.) who
finished 23rd with a time of 19:18. Stacey
Wojcik (Wrentham, Mass.) was the next Penmen finisher
coming in 30th at 19:35, and Abigail
MacBeth (Cumberland, R.I.) crossed the finish line at
36th with a time of 19:51. Rounding out the top five for
SNHU at 61st was Melissa Stacom
(Massapequa, N.Y.) with a time of 20:22.
Stonehill took the championship with 35 points, while Saint
Michael's, Bentley, and Merrimack finished before Southern
New Hampshire for the top five.
The Penmen return to action Sunday, November 10 when they travel
to Franklin Park in Boston for the NCAA East Regionals.
