Women Finish Fifth at Northeast-10 Championship

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Senior Maddie Hayes (Newington, Conn.) set a personal-record time of 19:04 to help lead the Southern New Hampshire women's cross country team to a program-best 5th place finish at the Northeast-10 Championship Sunday afternoon.

The fifth-place finish marks a new program-best as the team placed its highest at 6th back at the 2010 league championship.

Hayes earned herself a spot on the Third Team All-Conference after finishing the 5k 15th. Not trailing far behind Hayes, was freshman Laura O'Hanlon (Dedham, Mass.) who finished 23rd with a time of 19:18. Stacey Wojcik (Wrentham, Mass.) was the next Penmen finisher coming in 30th at 19:35, and Abigail MacBeth (Cumberland, R.I.) crossed the finish line at 36th with a time of 19:51. Rounding out the top five for SNHU at 61st was Melissa Stacom (Massapequa, N.Y.) with a time of 20:22.

Stonehill took the championship with 35 points, while Saint Michael's, Bentley, and Merrimack finished before Southern New Hampshire for the top five.

The Penmen return to action Sunday, November 10 when they travel to Franklin Park in Boston for the NCAA East Regionals.
