GOFFSTOWN, N.H. – The Southern New Hampshire women's tennis team blanked Holy Family University by a score of 9-0 in a non-conference match Saturday evening at the Allard Center in Goffstown. The Penmen improve to 9-6, while the Tigers are now 9-7.
The Penmen would sweep the Tigers in both doubles and singles play to earn the win.
Alena Mukdaprakorn (Hartford, Conn.) would defeat Juliana Victoria by scores of 7-5, 6-0 in No. 1 singles, while Diana Vamvakitis (Wading River, N.Y.) defeated Alina Nersesyan 6-1, 6-0 at second singles. The third, fourth, fifth, and sixth singles players would also come out on top to secure the win for the Penmen.
In doubles competition, Mukdaprakorn and Vamvakitis would lead the way while defeating Victoria and Nersesyan at the No. 1 spot by a score of 8-1. Amanda Albuquerque (Weymouth, Mass.) and Yolanda Green (Springfield, Mass.) would also notch an 8-2 win in second doubles, and Kirsten Jean (Bedford, N.H.) and Jamie Hann (Westhampton, N.Y.) would complete the sweep with an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles.
The Penmen return to action today as they travel to the University of New Haven for a Northeast-10 Conference match at 1:00 p.m.
