LAKELAND, Fla. – The Southern New Hampshire women's tennis team defeated Southeastern University (FL) by a score of 7-2 Tuesday afternoon. The Penmen improve to 8-1 overall while the Fire are now 2-7.

Southern New Hampshire would sweep Southeastern in doubles play, and drop just two singles matches.

The duo of Alena Mukdaprakorn (Hartford, Conn.) and Diana Vamvakitis (Wading River, N.Y.) would defeat Sadia Mayou and Alexis Quinn 8-4 at the No. 1 doubles spot, while Amanda Albuquerque (Weymouth, Mass.) and Yolanda Green (Springfield, Mass.) took the No. 2 doubles match by a score of 8-3. Kirsten Jean (Bedford, N.H.) and Jamie Hann (Westhampton, N.Y.) completed the sweep in No. 3 doubles play by defeating Stephanie Dodd and Mason Bellar by a score of 8-4.

In singles play, Mukdaprakorn would win the first set by a score of 7-5, but Mayou was too much for the senior as she was defeated 6-4 and 10-5 in the tiebreaker set in No. 1 singles play. In No. 2 singles action, Vamvakitis defeated Kristian Wisor by a score of 6-1, 6-1, and the Penmen would seek wins from the fourth, fifth, and sixth singles players as well to defeat the Fire.

The Penmen return to action Thursday, March 7 when they face Wayne St. (Mich.) in Kissimmee Florida for an 8:00 a.m. match.
