KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Southern New Hampshire women's tennis team was defeated 8-1 to Wayne State (Mich.) on Thursday morning. The loss marks the second on the season for the Penmen who are now 8-2, while the Warriors improve to 17-3 overall.
The Warriors would sweep Southern New Hampshire in doubles play while winning five out of six singles matches.
Alena Mukdaprakorn (Hartford, Conn.) and Diana Vamvakitis (Wading River, N.Y.) would fall in No. 1 doubles play to Anne Li Briand and Yasha Moore by a score of 9-7.
In singles play, Yolanda Green (Springfield, Mass.) would get the lone win for the Penmen as she defeated Jessie Kruczek at the No. 6 singles spot by a score of 6-2, 2-6, with a tiebreaker score of 10-8. Vamvakitis would also take her opponent into a tiebreaker set, but could not hold onto the match as Julia Kamenko beat Vamvakitis 4-6, 6-1(11-9)
The Penmen return to action Saturday March 9 when they travel to Chestnut Hill for an 11:00 a.m. match.
