Box Score MANCHESTER, N.H. – JP Ashline allowed six hits and one run in a complete game effort as Bentley University downed No. 12 Southern New Hampshire University 7-1 in Northeast-10 baseball Friday afternoon at Penmen Field. The Falcons, who have won four straight and 12 of 14, improve to 19-15 and 7-3 in the NE-10's Northeast Division, while the Penmen are 25-12 and 8-5 in the division.
Ashline upped his record to 5-1 with his effort, as he struck out six with one walk. The lone run the guests allowed was in the eighth, as a single by Andrew Pezzuto (Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y.) plated Jon Minucci (Madison, Conn.).
The Falcons picked up a run in the second, two in the fifth and broke the game open with four in the sixth. In the sixth, Sean Keady scored on a bases-loaded wild pitch, while a single to center by Kevin Korwek brought in Logan Gillis and Evan Mondor. Nate Witkowski then singled to bring in Korwek.
Keady, Mondor and Witkowski led Bentley with two hits apiece, while Pezzuto had two of SNHU's hits on the afternoon. Derrick Sylvester (Franklin, N.H.) took the loss for SNHU, allowing eight hits and five runs (three earned) in 5.1 innings of work while fanning nine. David Gibson (Hanover, Mass.) worked a third of an inning in the sixth before giving way to Orlando Gonzalez (Montville, Conn.), who allowed one hit over the final 3.1 innings.
The same two teams meet Saturday for a 3:00 Northeast-10 doubleheader at Penmen Field.
