Box Score

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Senior Matt Boulter (Wrentham, Mass.) became Southern New Hampshire's all-time hit leader Tuesday night as the No. 19 Penmen blanked Saint Michael's College 12-0 in Northeast-10 baseball at Penmen Field.  SNHU upped its record to 32-14 overall and 13-7 in the NE-10 Northeast Division, while the Purple Knights are now 12-27 and 4-15 in the division.

Boulter entered Tuesday night's game tied with Chris Hart with 189 career hits for tops in program history and took sole possession of the record as he led off the fourth inning with a single to right.  Boulter finished 2-4 and now has 191 career hits.

The Penmen wasted no time, jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first.  Brendan O'Brien (East Bridgewater, Mass.) led off the game with a double then came home as Andrew Pezzuto (Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y.) hit the first of his two triples of the game.  Following a strikeout, Riley Palmer (Goffstown, N.H.) belted his fifth home run of the season to left-center.

Southern New Hampshire put the game away with four runs in the fourth.  Andy Lalli (Lakeville, Mass.) followed Boulter's single with a base hit of his own, then Boulter scored on a Jon Minucci (Madison, Conn.) single.  Lalli and Minucci each scored on wild pitches, while a Pezzuto triple brought home O'Brien, who walked.

After a single run in the seventh, the Penmen scored four times in the bottom of the eighth, highlighted by a three-run home run by Anthony Aceto (North Providence, R.I.).

Penmen starter Junior Mendez (Patchogue, N.Y.) carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning that was broken up by a one-out single by Matt Feeney.  In seven innings of work Mendez, who upped his record to 8-2, allowed five hits and struck out 12 without issuing a walk.  Joe McCarthy (Nashua, N.H.) struck out a pair of Purple Knights in the eighth before Alex Powers (Brewster, Mass.) struck out the side in the ninth.

Pezzuto, Boulter and Minucci had two hits apiece for Southern New Hampshire as the Penmen outhit the Purple Knights 11-7 on the night.

Southern New Hampshire closes out NE-10 play Saturday night when they host Franklin Pierce in a 7:00 contest at Penmen Field.  The Penmen can assure themselves of finishing no lower than second in the division and a first round home game in the NE-10 Championship with a victory.
