Box Score MANCHESTER, N.H. – Pierre Omanga (Paris, France) totaled three goals and an assist off the bench to lead Southern New Hampshire University to a 5-1 Northeast-10 men's soccer win over Saint Anselm College Wednesday night at Larkin Field. The win, the fifth straight for the Penmen, improves them to 5-1 and 3-0 in NE-10 play, while the Hawks are 2-4 and 1-3 in the league.
Mohamed Toufik (Grande Synthe, France) got the scoring started for Southern New Hampshire in the 24th minute. He took a through ball from Sebastian Stezewski (New Britain, Conn.) and fired a shot in close that deflected off a Hawk defender and in for his second goal of the season. Omanga made it 2-0 at the 31:42 mark as he converted a penalty kick after getting hauled down in the penalty area.
Omanga made it 3-0 with a great individual effort in the 37th minute, stealing the ball from a Saint Anselm defender and dribbling through the defense before getting a shot off from 10 yards out. Joe Mahr (Fayetteville, N.Y.) made it 4-0 just past the 40-minute mark when he took a pass in close from Omanga and converted it for his first goal of the season.
Omanga made it a 5-0 game seven minutes into the second half when he headed home a tip by Brad Campion (Bethlehem, N.Y.) following a right-to-left corner kick by Miguel Carneiro (New Milford, Conn.). The Hawks spoiled the shutout bid with 9:18 remaining when Zachary Hecht notched an unassisted goal.
Dom DiMaggio (Rome, N.Y.) played the first 61:31 in goal for SNHU and made three saves before giving way to Myles Groenloh (Gevelsberg, Germany), who went the rest of the way. Mark Kotsopoulos went the distance in net for the Hawks and made five saves as the Penmen outshot Saint Anselm 19-6. The hosts also had all 12 of the game's corner kicks.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action Saturday when it travels to Adelphi University for a 4:00 Northeast-10 contest. The next Penmen home game is Saturday, October 5, as SNHU entertains American International College in a 4:00 game at Larkin Field.
