Women's Cross Country Competes at 2014 Mayor's Cup

BOSTON – The Southern New Hampshire University women's cross country team traveled to Franklin Park on Saturday morning to compete in the 2014 Boston Mayor's Cup. The event, which features both club and collegiate cross country teams, consisted of 130 runners.

Junior Stacey Wojcik (Wrentham, Mass.) was the first Penmen to cross the line and the third collegiate student-athlete to complete the course. Wojcik registered a time of 19:16 to finish fourth among collegiate competitors and No. 38 overall.

Classmate Abigail MacBeth (Cumberland, R.I.) was the next Southern New Hampshire student-athlete to finish on Saturday with a time of 19:31. MacBeth was also within the top-10 of the collegiate field, placing ninth.

Freshman Kaitlin McCauley (Waltham, Mass.) posted the second-fastest five-kilometer time of her career as she traversed the terrain in 21:35. Senior Melissa Stacom (Massapequa, N.Y.) finished just behind McCauley in 21:43 to round out the list of Penmen runners. 

Southern New Hampshire is idle until Nov. 9 when it travels to Franklin Pierce University for the 2014 Northeast-10 Conference Championship.
