RINDGE, N.H. – Led by sophomore Laura O'Hanlon's (Dedham, Mass.) fourth-place finish, the Southern New Hampshire University women's cross country team finished fifth at the 2014 Northeast-10 Conference Women's Cross Country Championship. The six-kilometer event featured 14 institutions and 141 student-athletes.
For the first time in program history, three Southern New Hampshire student-athletes garnered all-conference laurels. O'Hanlon led the Penmen with a time of 25:23, which earned her a place on the all-conference first-team, making her the first-ever Penmen to do so. O'Hanlon's fourth-place performance is the highest-ever finish by an SNHU runner at the Northeast-10 championship. Junior Stacey Wojcik (Wrentham, Mass.) was a second-team all-conference honoree after she traversed the terrain in a time of 26:00, good enough for No. 14 overall. Classmate Abigail MacBeth (Cumberland, R.I.) picked up third-team accolades as she finished right behind Wojcik in 26:01 and No. 15.
Freshman Kaitlin McCauley (Waltham, Mass.) was next across the finish line for Southern New Hampshire, as she posted an official time of 29:31. Senior Melissa Stacom (Massapequa, N.Y.) rounded out the Penmen contingent on Sunday, finishing just one-second behind McCauley in 29:32.
Southern New Hampshire will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 22 when it takes part in the 2014 NCAA East Regional at 2:30 p.m.
