Box Score CARY, N.C. – No. 15 Southern New Hampshire University defeated Felician College 6-2 in non-conference baseball action Friday night at the USA Baseball National Training Complex. The Penmen won their sixth straight to improve to 10-3, while the Golden Falcons are now 5-9 on the season.
Southern New Hampshire staked itself to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Manny Cruz (Wolcott, Conn.) reached on a one-out double and scored on a single by Riley Palmer (Goffstown, N.H.). Felician grabbed a run in the bottom of the third to tie the game 1-1.
The Penmen scored twice in the fifth, with a double by Brendan O'Brien (East Bridgewater, Mass.) knocking in Alejandro Diaz (Old Bridge, N.J.) and Anthony Aceto (North Providence, R.I.). After the Golden Falcons scored in the bottom half, SNHU made it 4-2 in the top of the sixth as Mike Mastroberti (Ramsey, N.J.) doubled with two away and scored on a Diaz single.
Bryan Toland (Wildwood, N.J.) drove in two insurance runs in the top of the ninth as his double plated Cruz and Kyle McGinnity (Northboro, Mass.).
Diaz led SNHU by going 3-3 with a walk at the plate, while Cruz, Palmer, Aceto and Al Stanton (Sandwich, Mass.) all had two hits as the Penmen outhit Felician 14-10.
Derrick Sylvester (Franklin, N.H.) scattered 10 hits while fanning four in 6.2 innings of work to pick up the win, allowing both Golden Falcon runs.
SNHU is in action twice on Saturday, facing Dowling at noon and Molloy at 3:00 pm.
