HUMACAO, P.R. – The Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team bounced back with an 8-1 win over the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez Wednesday morning. The Penmen wrap up their Puerto Rico trip 2-1 and improve to 8-2 overall.
The Penmen swept doubles competition and took five of six flights in singles, including Allison Valentine (New Hartford, Conn.) earning her second victory of the season with a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 6. Sarah Schöllgen (Meerbusch, Germany) was forced to retire at No. 1 singles after leading 3-0 in the first set due to injury.
Southern New Hampshire is idle until Saturday, March 22 when it travels to Adelphi University for a 10:00 am Northeast-10 match. The Penmen return home Saturday, March 29 against Queens (N.Y.) College for a 1:00 pm match.
