Bats Go Silent in Baseball Setback at Merrimack

Box Score

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Merrimack College downed No. 12 Southern New Hampshire University 4-0 in Northeast-10 baseball action Friday afternoon at Warrior Diamond.  The Warriors are now 16-16 and 10-11 in the NE-10, while the Penmen are 29-9 and 16-4 in the league.

SNHU mustered just five hits as it was blanked for the second time this season, led by an Al Stanton (Sandwich, Mass.) double.  Sophomore Tim Viehoff (Derry, N.H.) was the hard luck loser for the Penmen, allowing two runs (one earned) in seven-plus innings, allowing three hits and striking out five and walking four.

Merrimack broke open a scoreless game in the sixth when Frank Crinella stole third and came home after Cam Oliveira's (Tewksbury, Mass.) throw to get him out sailed away.  The Warriors scored three times in the eighth, led by a two-run single by Sean O'Neill.

Bobby Lossano had three of Merrimack's five hits on the afternoon.

The same two teams meet in a single contest Saturday afternoon at 1:00 pm at Warrior Diamond.
