Box Score MANCHESTER, N.H. – Senior Phoebe Clark (Concord, N.H.) recorded eight points in a 17-15 victory over Franklin Pierce Tuesday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action. The Penmen are now 5-11 overall and 3-8 in league play, while the Ravens fall to 4-9 overall and 3-8 in the conference.
Clark recorded five goals and three assists to lead the Penmen offense, while Lindsay Bucknam (Bow, N.H.) recorded three goals, Emily King (Florence, Mass.) registered two scores and an assist, and Jenna Crupi (Albany, N.Y.) scored twice. Alexa Allen (East Longmeadow, Mass.) added a goal and an assist, Casey Duggan (Framingham, Mass.) had two goals, and Ellen Decker (Foxborough, Mass.) and Ellie Morin (Scarborough, Maine) each added a score apiece.
The Penmen scored the first three goals of the game, as Bucknam, Morin, and Clark gave the hosts a 3-0 lead. The Ravens broke up the scoring with a goal from Lauren Beville at the 16:56 mark, but the Penmen went on a run scoring the next four goals. The teams traded goals as Duggan scored for SNHU, and Beville recorded another for Franklin Pierce. Sherra Dowling scored another Ravens goal with 5:09 remaining to cut the lead to four, but Clark scored her third goal of the game less than a minute later to boost the lead back to 9-4. Franklin Pierce scored once more before the half to cut the lead back to 9-5.
Allen scored the first goal of the second half for SNHU on a free position shot to go up 10-5, and the teams went back and forth for the next five goals, making it 12-8 with 18:49 left to play. Southern New Hampshire then began to pull away, recording four consecutive scores, including two King goals, and one from Duggan and Clark to make it 16-8. The Penmen seemed to secure the win with under 10 minutes to play, however, Franklin Pierce went on a 7-0 run to cut the lead to just one goal with under a minute to play. The Penmen were able to gain possession, and brought the clock down until the five second mark, when Bucknam scored her third goal of the game to insure the win at 17-15.
Maria Ploof (Middlebury, Vt.) had 11 saves in the win, while Julia Coakley recorded 17 for Franklin Pierce.
The Penmen return to action Saturday, April 26 when they host American Int'l for the last regular season home game on Larkin Field for a 4:00 p.m. game.
