NEWARK, Del. - Ali Maloof (Norwood, Mass.) of the Southern New Hampshire softball team has been named the 2014 Daktronics All-East Region Pitcher of the Year as announced Monday afternoon. Sophomore Lindsey Bolduc (Londonderry, N.H.) also earned First-Team honors.
Maloof led the team to its first ever Northeast-10 Conference Championship, as well as a trip to the NCAA East Regional final round. She finished the season 21-8 in the circle, and helped the team to a 31-15 season, the most wins ever in softball program history. The junior totaled an impressive 241 strikeouts in 208.1 innings pitched, along with a 1.34 ERA.
She totaled four no-hitters this season, including a perfect game in April, where she recorded 11 strikeouts. Maloof also pitched a no-no in the conference title game en route to the win.
She sits at the top of the record books in career strikeouts as a junior with 601, and had a career-best 18 earlier this season against Bentley.
The back-to-back Northeast-10 Pitcher of the Year, Maloof at least 10 strikeouts six times this season, and had 10 shutouts for the Penmen.
Bolduc earns First Team honors as a hard-hitting second baseman who finished the season with a .315 average at the plate, and a .967 fielding percentage. The sophomore totaled 45 hits on the season, including a team-best 12 doubles, along with seven homeruns. Bolduc led the team in runs batted in with 37, and had a team-best .545 slugging percentage.
An All-Conference First-Team selection, Bolduc totaled a career-best seven RBI in a 17-1 win over Lake Erie where she totaled two doubles and a homerun. She also knocked in four and five runs on different occasions to lead SNHU to wins. Bolduc recorded a hit in 30 games this season, and had multiple hits in 13 contests for the Penmen.
In the field, the second baseman committed just four errors with 72 putouts.
The Penmen recently ended their season with a 7-6 loss in 13 innings to No. 20 LIU Post in the NCAA East Regional Championship Round Sunday.
