DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Sophomore Laura O'Hanlon (Dedham, Mass.) posted the second-fastest five-kilometer time in Southern New Hampshire history on Saturday, as she helped lead the Penmen to a No. 12-place finish at the 2014 UMass-Dartmouth Cross Country Invitational. A total of 38 teams and 272 student-athletes competed on Saturday.
O'Hanlon, who finished No. 11 in the race, completed the course in a time of 18:32 which is second only to Emma Lundberg's 18:16 performance at the 2010 UMass-Dartmouth Invitational. Junior Stacey Wojcik (Wrentham, Mass.) finished right behind O'Hanlon, traversing the terrain in 18:39 to finish No. 15 on Saturday and No. 3 all-time in program history. Junior Abigail MacBeth (Cumberland, R.I.) also earned a place in Penmen lore as she crossed the finish line in 19:31, good enough for No. 19 in school history.
Sophomore Felicia Dowling (Merrimack, N.H.) was the fourth SNHU student-athlete to complete the race after posting a time of 20:30, and junior Erin Carter (Shelburne, Vt.) rounded out the top-five Penmen finishers in 20:40.
SNHU returns to competition on Oct. 4 when it travels to the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh University.
