Box Score MANCHESTER, N.H. – Kenny Doublette (Port-au-Prince, Haiti) scored twice for the second straight game while also adding an assist as top-ranked Southern New Hampshire University jumped out to a 4-0 lead just over 27 minutes into the game en route to a 6-0 Northeast-10 men's soccer victory over Saint Anselm College at Saint Anselm's Melucci Field Wednesday afternoon. The Penmen upped their record to 6-0 and 3-0 in the NE-10 with their third straight shutout, while the Hawks are now 1-4 and 0-3 in the league.
Southern New Hampshire is now unbeaten in 29 straight games dating back to 2013, and has won 24 Northeast-10 contests in a row dating back to 2012. The six-goal margin of victory is the largest for the Penmen since an 8-0 triumph against Assumption on October 20, 2004.
The win gives Southern New Hampshire two points in the recently-announced Queen City Cup, a competition that sees the in-city rivals square off in 16 different sports. With the win, the Penmen hold a 5-0 lead thus far.
A pair of players notched their first goals of the season as the Penmen jumped out to a 2-0 lead just over six minutes into the game. In the fourth minute, Kyle Logan (Shelburne, Vt.) headed home a cross from the right wing from Doublette to make it 1-0, while at the 6:05 mark, Callum Williams (Ossett, England) headed home a loose ball in the box off a corner inside the right post.
Doublette scored back-to-back goals midway through the frame to push the lead to 4-0. Just shy of the 20-minute mark, Doublette intercepted a clear attempt on a corner kick by a Hawk defender and headed it home to make it 3-0. In the 28th minute, he collected a rebound and fired it home for his sixth goal of the season. The Penmen carried a 4-0 lead into halftime.
Jose Seoane (A Coruna, Spain) made it 5-0 5:26 into the second half with his seventh goal of the season, while Orri Gustafsson (Akureyri, Iceland) scored his second goal of the season with 5:45 left to account for the 6-0 final.
Dom DiMaggio (Rome, N.Y.) played the first 63:24 in goal for Southern New Hampshire and made three saves before giving way to Andrew Pesci (Windham, N.H.), who made one save the rest of the way to finish the shutout. Bret Macko made eight saves in the first half before being replaced at intermission by Stephen McLeod, who recorded three saves. The Penmen outshot the Hawks 20-6 and held an 11-2 edge in corner kicks.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action Saturday afternoon when it hosts Adelphi University in a 4:00 contest at Larkin Field.
