Box Score HAVERHILL, Mass. – Senior Cole Warren (Bedford, N.H.) allowed just one hit in five innings as No. 22 Southern New Hampshire University topped Assumption College 5-1 in a non-conference baseball game at Trinity Stadium that was shortened to five innings due to snow. The Penmen are now 10-5 on the season, while the Greyhounds are 3-11.
Warren struck out 10 batters, walked five and allowed the lone hit, a one-out double to Michael Panza, in the fifth. He upped his record to 1-1 on the season.
Southern New Hampshire scored all five of its runs in the third inning. Ryan Gendron (Nashua, N.H.) led off with a walk and scored on a triple by Zach Goldstein (Merrick, N.Y.). Manny Cruz (Wolcott, Conn.) followed with a single to plate Goldstein before Assumption walked three of the next four Penmen batters and hit the other to make it 4-0. Gendron came back up and delivered a single to make it 5-0.
Panza scored on an error in the fifth for the lone Greyhound run.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action Monday afternoon when it faces Merrimack College in a non-league twinbill at Franklin Pierce's Pappas Field at 3:30 pm.
