No. 11 Stonehill Too Much for Women's Lacrosse

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Hat tricks from Brooke Rudden and Emily Kessel powered the Stonehill College offense as the Skyhawks defeated the Southern New Hampshire University women's lacrosse team 15-9. Stonehill stays undefeated with a 5-0 record and 3-0 Northeast-10 Conference mark while the Penmen fall to 1-2 and 0-2 in the conference.

After Southern New Hampshire fell to a 7-0 deficit, the Penmen were able to answer with back-to-back goals from Emily King (Florence, Mass.) and Ellen Decker (Foxborough, Mass) to cut the lead to 7-2. The Penmen would trail 14-4 with 11:47 remaining in the second half before the Penmen picked up the offensive attack, scoring five of the six final goals in the game. Decker scored her third goal of the game off a feed from Alexa Bedell (Londonderry, N.H.) to kick start the Penmen offense. King (Florence, Mass.) notched her second goal of the game from a pass from Lindsay Bucknam (Bow, N.H.) before Bucknam was able to score a goal of her own with 4:35 remaining. Kennedy Daziel (East Hampstead, N.H.) and Alexa Allen (East Longmeadow, Mass.) would tally goals to conclude the scoring in the contest.

Bucknam led the Penmen in points, tallying four, while Decker and King each recorded three points. Goalkeeper Nicole Kennedy (Windham, Maine) stopped six shots in her effort in the cage.

Brooke Rudden was one of seven Skyhawk players that had multipoint efforts as she led the way for Stonehill with three goals and three assists. Goalkeeper Ashley Armstrong stopped eight of 17 shots in the contest.

Stonehill held a narrow advantage in ground balls, at 14-13, and turnovers, at 14-15., Both the Penmen and Skyhawks collected 13 draw controls, while the Skyhawks held a 28-20 advantage in shots.

Southern New Hampshire women's lacrosse heads to Le Moyne College on Sunday to face the Dolphins for an 11:00 am start.
