Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Southern New Hampshire University swept a split Northeast-10 baseball doubleheader with Stonehill College and Saint Anselm College on Saturday at Penmen Field.  The Penmen (16-7, 4-2 NE-10) topped Stonehill 4-2 in 14 innings in the opener before topping the Hawks 4-1 in the nightcap.

In the opener, playing as the visitor, SNHU grabbed two runs in the top of the 14th.  With the bases loaded, a wild pitch allowed Manny Cruz (Wolcott, Conn.) to score from third, while a sac fly by Alejandro Diaz (Old Bridge, N.J.) plated Carson Helms (Farmington, Conn.).

The Penmen staked themselves to a 2-0 lead in the top of the third as Mike Montville (Portsmouth, N.H.) hit a two-run single that scored Cruz and Zach Goldstein (Merrick, N.Y.).  Stonehill got a run back in the seventh on a solo home run by Brian Hocking, and tied the game in the eighth when Steve Lee scored on a passed ball.

Montville, Goldstein and Cruz each had two hits in the opener as the Penmen outhit the Skyhawks 9-4.  Alex Person (Foxboro, Mass.) earned the inning in four innings of relief, allowing two hits while fanning four.  SNHU starter Cole Warren (Bedford, N.H.) went 7.2 innings, striking out 10 while surrendering a pair of hits.

In the nightcap, sophomore lefthander Mike Robert (Nashua, N.H.) was the story early for SNHU.  In 4.2 innings, Robert registered all 14 outs via strikeout while allowing three hits and one run while walking two.  Jake Walkinshaw (Seymour, Conn.) earned the win in relief, allowing one hit in 3.1 innings while striking out four.  Stephen Fortuna (Metuchen, N.J.) worked the ninth for a save.  In total, Penmen pitching registered 20 strikeouts against the Hawks.

Montville homered to lead off the fourth to give Southern New Hampshire a 1-0 lead.  Later in the frame, a two-run double by Derek Bauer (Millis, Mass.) made it 3-0, plating Ryan Gendron (Nashua, N.H.) and Cam Oliveira (Tewksbury, Mass.).  Saint Anselm got a run back in the fifth when a Ken Morrisino single scored Max Wadington.  SNHU's final run came in the seventh when Cruz led off with a single and scored on a passed ball.

Montville and Bauer each finished with two hits in the nightcap.

Southern New Hampshire returns to action Monday when it hosts American International College for a 3:30 doubleheader.
