BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Graduate student Sarah Schöllgen (Meerbusch, Germany) posted a victory at No. 3 singles, but the Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team was felled by No. 26 Concordia (N.Y.) College Saturday afternoon. The Clippers improved to 14-4 on the season, while the Penmen are now 12-5 overall.
Schöllgen defeated Alla Kravchuk in three sets, posting a 3-6, 6-4, 10-6 victory. Junior Ashley Loft (Leysin, Switzerland) battled Romana Tabak, the No. 5-ranked singles player in Division II, in three sets before succumbing 6-0, 2-6, 6-3. In doubles action, Loft and Diana Vamvakitis (Wading River, N.Y.) fell 8-6 to Tabak and Costanza Mecchi, the No. 5-ranked doubles tandem nationally.
Southern New Hampshire closes out the regular season Sunday at Queens (N.Y.) College.
