Box Score MANCHESTER, N.H. – Emily King (Florence, Mass.) scored three goals and Nicole Kennedy (Windham, Maine) stopped 10 of the 18 shots she faced as Southern New Hampshire University outlasted Merrimack College 12-8 in Northeast-10 women's lacrosse Wednesday afternoon at Larkin Field. The Penmen upped their record to 7-7 and 5-7 in the NE-10, while the Warriors are now 3-13 and 1-11 in the league.
Casey Duggan (Framingham, Mass.) and Alexa Allen (East Longmeadow, Mass.) each tallied two goals and an assist, while Lindsay Bucknam (Bow, N.H.) and Kennedy Daziel (East Hampstead, N.H.) also scored twice. Alexa Bedell (Londonderry, N.H.) had the other Penmen goal.
Aubrie Stouffer led Merrimack with three goals and an assist.
Merrimack scored the game's first goal nearly eight minutes in, before Daziel tied the game on a free position 1:03 later. Bedell gave the Penmen a 2-1 lead at the 17:26 mark, but Stouffer tied the game at 15:47. After SNHU and Merrimack traded goals, King's score with 7:02 left put the Penmen on top for good, 4-3, with Duggan making 5-3 at the 2:57 mark. The hosts took a 5-4 lead into halftime.
Southern New Hampshire scored the first three goals of the second half, with Bucknam's free position goal with 18:12 left making it 8-4. SNHU took its largest lead, 12-6, with 6:51 to go on an Allen free position goal that made it 12-6.
Kennedy matched her second-highest save total of the season, while Merrimack counterpart Alexa Petzold stopped 11 shots. SNHU held a 30-19 shot advantage on the afternoon.
The Penmen wrap up the regular season Saturday when they travel to Southern Connecticut State University for a noon contest.
