THE PENMEN: Buoyed by six All-Conference performers, including Northeast-10 Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year, senior Ali Maloof (Norwood, Mass.), Southern New Hampshire enters Friday's semifinal as the tournament's top seed…under the tutelage of Northeast-10 Coach of the Year Deb Robitaille, the Penmen put together a 26-9 regular season that included an 18-3 mark in conference play…junior Mo Hannan (Scarborough, Maine) leads the Southern New Hampshire offense with a .427 batting average, .481 on-base percentage, 50 hits and 32 runs scored from the leadoff spot…Maloof enters the tournament hitting at a .422 clip with four home runs, 24 RBI and 31 runs scored…in the circle, the senior right-hander has has fanned 143 batters and compiled an 18-1 record with a 1.34 earned run average in 120 innings pitched…the Penmen are hitting .336 as a team and have scored 214 runs thus far.
THE SETTERS: Pace advanced to Friday's semifinal by virtue of a 3-2 victory over Saint Anselm College on Thursday…the #3 seed in the Southwest Division, the Setters are 25-14 and are making their second appearance in the NE-10 semifinals since joining the conference in 1997…junior Caitlin McCann (San Mateo, Calif.) earned the win for Pace on Thursday, and heads the pitching staff with an 11-4 record and 2.31 ERA…sophomore Shelby Yung (Upland, Calif.) leads the Setter offense with a .440 batting average that includes five home runs and 15 runs batted in…senior Jeane Drury (Flanders, N.J.) is hitting .402 in 39 games this season with six home runs, 32 RBI and 51 hits.
WHAT'S NEXT: The winner of Friday's semifinal will advance to the 2015 Northeast-10 Softball Tournament championship, which will be played on Saturday at 1 p.m. on Penmen Field.
