MANCHESTER, N.H. – Diana Vamvakitis (Wading River, N.Y.), who recently wrapped up a standout four-year career with the Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis program, was recently honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association with the 2014-15 Most Improved Senior Award for the East Region.
Vamvakitis finished the 2014-15 season with a 12-7 record at No. 1 singles, including a 9-2 Northeast-10 Conference mark, while in doubles action she was 12-6 on the season. A two-time NE-10 Third Team selection in singles and doubles, Vamvakitis finished the season ranked No. 14 in the East Region in singles while she and Ashley Loft (Leysin, Switzerland) were ranked No. 10 in doubles play.
Over her career, Vamvakitis finished with 73 singles wins as well as 73 doubles triumphs. She wraps up her career tied for second in career singles wins, while she sits alone in second place on the career doubles wins list. Vamvakitis earned Northeast-10 All-Conference honors in both singles and doubles in each of her four seasons while she was named NE-10 Rookie of the Year as a freshman.
The SNHU women's tennis team finished 12-6 in 2014-15, including an 11-1 NE-10 mark that placed the Penmen second in the league standings. Southern New Hampshire ended the season ranked No. 7 in the final ITA regional rankings and No. 8 in the NCAA East Region ranking.
