MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Southern New Hampshire University Department of Athletics presented Catholic Medical Center (CMC) with a check for all the donations it raised through its pink game initiatives during the 2015-16 season. The cheerleading team also gave 50 fully-painted pumpkins to CMC's Breast Care Center in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month last Thursday.
The 28 Cheerleaders worked diligently and innovatively to create unique pumpkin works of art for every surface of CMC's specialized office.
Both Dr. Elizabeth Angelakis and Dr. Connie Campbell were present and excited to have the pink-spirited pumpkins to help keep the office festive during the month. Pink is the internationally-recognized ribbon color for breast cancer awareness.
"Being able to support a strong cause during this month of awareness was important to both SNHU and CMC, and the work the Breast Care Center does is very close to our heart," said Riley O'Brien, Academic Success Coordinator for Athletics. "The team was honored to be able to participate in this project and bring positivity to anyone battling this terrible disease."
Lull Farm in Hollis, N.H., helped provide the pumpkins for the community service project.
