Junior Lindsay Baum (N. Salem, N.Y.) and sophomore Rachel Wagner (Framingham, Mass.) each won their singles matches and then combined on a doubles victory, but the Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to the 27th-ranked New York Institute of Technology on Saturday evening at SPORTIME.
Baum and Wagner salvaged a doubles win for the Penmen as they dispatched Antonella Lopez and Rosa LaCorte, 8-3, at No. 3.
Wager then defeated Lopez, 8-5, at No. 5 singles, with Baum taking apart LaCorte, 8-1, in the No. 6 slot.
Notes:
-SNHU loses for just the second time in its last 10 matches.
-Baum has won nine-in-a-row in singles play, while she and Wagner improve to 15-1 this season as doubles partners.
-NYIT, in addition to being ranked 27th in the country, is No. 1 in the ITA East Region Rankings, while Southern New Hampshire is slotted sixth.
