Junior Ivon Clough (Dublin, N.H.) turned in a solid outing in game one and redshirt-junior Andrew Lalonde (Bedford, N.H.) picked up his first career victory in game two, as the seventh-ranked Southern New Hampshire University baseball team opened Northeast-10 play with a pair of wins against the College of Saint Rose on Saturday at Trinity College's Murren Family Field/DiBenedetto Stadium. The Penmen pulled out a 2-1 win in the first game before securing a 6-1 victory in game two.

Redshirt-junior Ryan Sullivan (Hopkinton, Mass.) led the charge, offensively, as he was 5-for-9 with an RBI and three runs scored. Graduate student Zach Goldstein (Merrick, N.Y.) finished 2-for-5 with four walks, an RBI and a run scored.

Game one was scoreless into the bottom of the fifth when Sullivan led off with a single and redshirt-sophomore John Stanton (Sandwich, Mass.) was hit by a pitch, eventually putting two on with two out for sophomore Kyle Ruth (Albany, N.Y.), who came through with a two-run single to snap the deadlock.

Saint Rose would finally break though against Clough in the seventh as Joe DeLuca led off with a walk, went to second on a single by Ernie Geraci and moved to third on a passed ball before scoring on a groundout to shortstop from Matt McKinnon. Redshirt-freshman Brendan Welch (Easton, Mass.) would enter to record the final out of the frame and then tossed 1-2-3 innings in both the eighth and ninth to preserve the 2-1 win.

Clough (3-0) allowed one run – unearned – on four hits, while walking four and striking out four, in six-and-two-thirds innings. Welch spun two-and-a-third perfect innings.

Sullivan was 2-for-4 with a run scored, while Goldstein went 1-for-2 with a pair of walks. Ruth (two RBI) and junior Sean Webster (Boston, Mass.) were each 1-for-4.

In game two, the Penmen provided junior starter Rob Del Signore (Londonderry, N.H.) with some support right away as they plated two in the bottom of the first. Goldstein drew a leadoff walk, went to third on a base hit from Sullivan and scored on a wild pitch before junior Caleb Potter (Mentor, Ohio) delivered a two-out double to score Sullivan and make it 2-0.

The Golden Knights sliced their deficit in half in the second when Joe Foran led off with a walk, moved to second on a passed ball, advanced to third on a groundout to second and scored on a sacrifice fly from Tom Moore.

Southern New Hampshire pushed two more across in the third as junior Kyle Pangallo (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) singled, stole second and scored on an RBI single from Sullivan, who would move to third when senior Derek Bauer (Millis, Mass.) reached on error, and later swipe home to make it 4-1.

Webster drove in the fifth Penmen run in the fourth as his RBI single scored sophomore Joshua Zbierski (Stafford Springs, Conn.), who had led off the frame with a double. SNHU tacked on another run in the eighth as Goldstein smacked a two-out triple that scored sophomore Robert Fulkerson (Anaheim, Calif.), who began the two-out rally with a base knock.

Del Signore allowed the one run on one hit, striking out one and walking a pair in two innings. The Southern New Hampshire bullpen then came up huge, keeping Saint Rose off the scoreboard for seven innings. Junior Joe DeSarro (Frankfort, N.Y.) walked three in two scoreless innings, while Lalonde (1-0) scattered three hits, punched out four and did not walk a batter in four shutout frames, while redshirt-sophomore Cameron Scotia (Dudley, Mass.) struck out the side and allowed one hit in an inning of work.

Sullivan was 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored, while Fulkerson finished 2-for-2 with a run scored after entering in the sixth as a pinch hitter for Webster, who had gone 1-for-2 with an RBI. Goldstein (two walks, RBI, run) and Potter (walk, RBI) were both 1-for-3, with Pangallo (walk, run) and Zbierski (run) each going 1-for-4.

Notes:
- SNHU has now won 10 of its last 11, including three straight.
- Lalonde notches his first career win in just his fourth appearance of the season after converting from a catcher/DH.
