Sophomore Merry Harrington (Peabody, Mass.) scored a pair of goals, but the Southern New Hampshire University women's lacrosse team fell to the 16th-ranked New York Institute of Technology, 20-4, Saturday afternoon at President's Stadium.
The Bears built a 10-0 lead over the opening 18:43 of the contest, with Alyssa Milano and Shannon Donovan each scoring four times. Graduate student Amanda Wickens (Tyngsborough, Mass.) put the Penmen on the board with her first goal in an SNHU uniform at the 7:52 mark, but NYIT capped the half with four straight, including a pair from Milano, to bring a 14-1 advantage into the break.
After two straight to begin the second half for NYIT, free-position tallies from Harrington and junior Alexis Felt (Manchester, N.H.) gave Southern New Hampshire some momentum, but the Bears would score four-in-a-row, including a pair from Donovan, to make it 20-3 with under five minutes to play. Harrington added one for the Penmen with 4:06 remaining off an assist from senior Alexa Bedell (Londonderry, N.H.).
Notes:
- Junior goalkeeper Leah Olansky (Bennington, Vt.) made seven saves, playing the first 21 minutes of the opening half and the entire second stanza, while sophomore goalkeeper Alex Comeau (Haverhill, Mass.) turned away a pair of NYIT bids over the final nine minutes of the first frame. Ashley Miller stopped three shots for the Bears.
- NYIT outshot Southern New Hampshire, 41-9, including 30-3 in the opening half, and held a 16-9 advantage in draw controls.
- The Penmen made good on two of three free-position chances, with the Bears going 0-for-4.

The Penmen are back in action Tuesday, March 13 (7 p.m.) when they open Northeast-10 play at Stonehill College. The next home game for SNHU is Saturday, March 24 (12 p.m.) when it plays host to Franklin Pierce University at Penmen Stadium.
