Redshirt-sophomore Joshua Goldstein (Haverhill, Mass.) went 3-for-4 with a trio of extra-base hits, two RBI and two runs scored, and junior Endy Morales (Holyoke, Mass.) fired seven shutout innings in an 18-1 game-two victory, as the Southern New Hampshire University baseball team split Saturday's doubleheader with Bentley University at DeFelice Field. The Penmen were edged, 4-3, in 12 innings in the first game.

Goldstein was 6-for-8 with four extra-base knocks, two RBI and four runs scored in the doubleheader, slashing a ridiculous .750/.778/1.375/2.153. Graduate student Thomas Buonopane (Peabody, Mass.) went 5-for-9 with an RBI and three runs scored, while sophomore Tom Blandini (Bow, N.H.) finished 5-for-10 with three RBI and scored twice. Senior Kyle Pangallo (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) turned in a 4-for-10, two-RBI, three-run performance. Redshirt-senior Ryan Sullivan (Hopkinton, Mass.) and redshirt-junior John Stanton (Sandwich, Mass.) each knocked in three runs, with junior Joshua Zbierski (Stafford Springs, Conn.) and freshman Dakota Mulcay (Goffstown, N.H.) both hitting home runs.

Southern New Hampshire jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning in game one, as RBI singles from Sullivan and freshman Sam Henrie (Middleboro, Mass.) plated the first two runs, before Sullivan eventually came around to score on a wild pitch.

Henrie came through again, using an RBI double to spark a five-run third inning. Pangallo would make it 5-0 with a run-scoring single to left, before Goldstein's two run-triple and Blandini's RBI double broke it open at 8-0.

Zbierski would lead off the fifth with a solo shot, before Goldstein doubled to right, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on Blandini's RBI groundout to second to make it an even 10-0. Mulcay matched Zbierski's solo home run in the sixth, while Pangallo would double home Zbierski, who drew a one-out walk, to nudge the lead to 12-0.

SNHU continued to pour it on with three runs in the seventh. Sullivan's RBI double to right began the scoring, before Stanton stroked a two-run double to center that extended the advantage to 15-0. The pair contributed to another three-run frame in the eighth, with Sullivan's run-scoring single and Stanton's RBI fielder's choice grounder making it 17-0. Buonopane, who singled earlier in the inning, would later score when Mulcay reached on an error to cap the scoring.

Bentley broke up the shutout in the home half of the eighth when Gino Fordiani stung an RBI single to right.

Morales (2-3) was dominant over seven shutout innings, as he allowed four hits, while striking out seven and walking one. Redshirt-senior Jake Stearns (Plymouth, Mass.) gave up one run on one hit, fanning a pair and walking one in an inning of work. Sophomore Nick Artymowicz (Seaville, N.J.) struck out one in a perfect ninth.

Goldstein finished 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Buonopane went 4-for-6 and scored three times, while Blandini was 3-for-5 with two RBI and scored two times. Sullivan (three RBI, two runs) and Pangallo (two RBI, two runs) both went 3-for-6, with Stanton going 2-for-5 with three RBI and a run. Henrie was 2-for-6 with a pair of RBI and a run scored.

Trailing, 3-1, in the eighth inning of game one, the Penmen would tie it, as singles by Pangallo, Goldstein and Blandini would make it a one-run game and put a pair in scoring position with one out. Sophomore Jake Coro (Johnston, R.I.) pulled SNHU even with an RBI groundout to short.

After leaving a pair on in the 10th, the Penmen threatened again in the top of the 12th with runners on first and second. Blandini came through with a base hit to left, but a strong throw to the plate would cut down the potential go-ahead run to end the inning.

Bentley would then end the game in the bottom of the 12th when Nathan Littman led off with a walk, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Jake Pierce and scored on Charlie Auditore's single up the middle.

Goldstein was 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored, while Blandini went 2-for-5 and knocked in a run. Buonopane finished 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Grad student Shane McDonald (Blue Point, N.Y.) struck out 10 and walked just one over five-and-two-thirds, while giving up three runs on five hits. Freshman Jeffrey Praml (Bridgewater, N.J.) allowed a hit and a walk in a third of an inning. Redshirt-sophomore Brendan Welch (Easton, Mass.) and redshirt-junior Jake Walkinshaw (Seymour, Conn.) each struck out one in two hitless innings, while sophomore Wesley Tobin (Portsmouth, N.H.) was tagged with the loss to fall to 1-1 on the season after being charged with one run on one hit in an inning-and-two-thirds, striking out one and walking a pair.

The Penmen grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the third when Goldstein doubled and scored on Buonopane's two-out single.

Bentley took the lead with a three-run fifth. Austin Farry led off with a double to left and scored to tie the game on Mike Samko's single to right. Ryan Berardino then swatted a two-run homer to make it 3-1.

Notes:
- The 24 hits SNHU pounded out in the second are the most in a single game since at least 2007.
- Ten Penmen drove in a run in the doubleheader, including eight in the game two victory.
- Southern New Hampshire scored in six different innings in the second game and hit safely in all nine frames.
- Zbierski's home run was his second of the season and eighth of his career, while the home run for Mulcay was his third of the year.
