STILLWATER, Okla. – Juniors Matt Paradis (Hooksett, N.H.) and Sam Riemer (Canton, Mass.) of the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team were selected to the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) PING East All-Region Team it was announced Tuesday afternoon.
Paradis and Riemer took up two of the 12 spots on the squad after leading the Penmen to a fourth-place finish at the Northeast-10 Championship back in October and a seventh-place showing at the NCAA Atlantic/East Regional earlier this month.
Across 23 rounds of golf this season, Paradis was 1-over par and averaged a 72.6 per round. He finished in the top 10 eight times in the 10 events he played in, including six top-five showings and four individual medalist honors. Paradis began the season by winning the Penmen Fall Invitational on Sept. 18-19 with a 3-under 135, as the team won its second straight tournament. He then captured the NE10 Championship on Oct. 2-3 with a playoff-hole victory, following a 3-over 143 through two rounds. Paradis also won the Le Moyne Fall Invitational on Oct. 13-14 with a 7-under 137 and the Mike Bello Invitational on April 12-13 with an even-par 144, before wrapping up the season with a 2-over 218 to tie for sixth at the NCAA Atlantic/East Regional on May 7-9.
Riemer, meanwhile, shot 5-over par and averaged a 76.0 across 24 rounds and 11 events. Riemer placed in the top 10 on five occasions, including three top-five showings. His best tournament came Sept. 10-11 when he earned individual medalist honors and guided the Penmen to a win at the Franklin Pierce Invitational with an even-par 144. He narrowly missed out on another first-place finish at the Eagles Invitational on Oct. 9-10 when he was runner-up with a 3-over 145. Riemer capped the season with an 8-over 224 to tie for 24th in the 108-golfer field at the regional.
