Women's Tennis Wraps Regular Season with 5-2 Win Versus Daemen

Freshman Selin Seyfettinoglu (Wiesbaden, Germany), and sophomores Alexxa Etienne (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) and Elizabeth Dwyer (Cutchogue, N.Y.) all won two matches, as the Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team wrapped up its regular season with a 5-2 victory against Daemen College on Sunday.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
  • Seyfettinoglu, who moved up to No. 1 singles from her normal spot at the No. 2 flight, defeated Lena Gruber, 6-4, 6-3. She also combined with classmate Mina Houge (Oslo, Norway) for a 6-0 blanking of Emily Clough at Erica Jasinski at No. 2 doubles.
  • Etienne rolled to a 6-4, 6-2 No. 2 singles win against Christina Stasiuk and also teamed with freshman Magdalena Hubickova (Prague, Czech Republic) to hold off Stasiuk and Gruber, 7-6 (8-6).
  • Dwyer cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles against Mackenzie Schayes. Dwyer did not lose a game the entire match, as she and freshman Samantha Cote (Groton, Conn.) blanked Andrea D'Sa and Alliya Foster, 6-0, at No. 3 doubles. 
  • Freshman Isabella Andrade (Cochabamba, Bolivia) made quick work of Emily Clough at No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
NOTES
  • Southern New Hampshire has now won nine consecutive matches.
  • SNHU, which clinched a share of the Northeast-10 Regular-Season Championship for the first time since the 2012-13 season Saturday, will await the results of Stonehill College's conference finale Monday before discovering its seed for the Northeast-10 Championship. The Penmen and Adelphi University are currently tied atop the standings, with the Skyhawks a half-match behind. The top two teams receive a bye into the semifinals.
  • Andrade remains undefeated at a perfect 12-0 this season in dual-match play.

  • Southern New Hampshire is back in action with Wednesday, Oct. 23 or Friday, Oct. 25 when it opens play at the Northeast-10 Championship.
