Results: Southern New Hampshire 6th/11 (16 points)
After the first day of competition at Penmen Stadum, the Southern New Hampshire University women's track and field team is in sixth place at the 2019 Northeast-10 Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Competition resumes at 9 a.m. on Saturday with the completion of the combined events (decathlon/heptathlon).
SNHU accumulated 16 points in Friday's scoring competitions:
Senior Kylie Lorenzen (Holliston, Mass.) had the best finish of the day, taking second place in the long jump. On her final attempt, she recorded a 5.59m, personal best and program record jump.
Senior Mary Claffey (Burlington, Conn.) came in fourth in the pole vault with a new career and SNHU mark of 3.15m.
Freshman Tatyanna Beckford (Orange, N.J.) had a sixth place finish in the javelin throw. Beckford had a throw of 34.04m.
Qualifying for final heats on Saturday:
Sophomore Megan Decker (Commack, N.Y.) had the eighth best time in the 200m qualifying (25.84) to advance to the finals.
Sophomore Jill Couto (Newton Junction, N.H.) is into the 800m final after qualifying with the second best time of the day (2:15.09).
Junior Alanna Murphy (Nashua, N.H.) has qualified for the finals in both the 100 and 400m hurdles. Her qualifying time in the 400H of 1:06.14 is the fastest performance in SNHU program history.
