Five new indoor marks were established by Women's Track & Field at the John Thomas Terrier Classic at BU on Friday.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- Senior Jill Couto (Newton Junction, N.H.), who ran the fastest 600m in program history last week, came back to break her own indoor school record with a 2:14.99 in the 800m.
- Sophomore Grace Henson (Cumberland, R.I.) also broke her school record with a 3:02.32 in the women's 1,000m race.
- Sophomore Ashley Corcoran (East Longmeadow, Mass.) turned in the fastest mile run in Penmen history with a 5:04.36.
- Junior Maura Coakley (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) also set a school indoor record with a 10:22.89 in the women's 3,000m race.
- Sophomore Bennie Alula (Hartford, Conn.) finished ninth in the weight throw. Her 15.42m throw eclipsed the program record previously held by teammate Ashley Elder (Bristol, Conn.).
- Elder had the highest finish in an event with a fourth-place in the shot put at 14.16m (46' 5.5").
- SNHU's 4x400 relay team turned in a 4:15.10 time. Participating were sophomore Zeandrea Ward (Hartford, Conn.), Couto, Henson and freshman Alexarae Clark (Deer Park, N.Y.)
- Ward ran the fastest 200m among the eight SNHU runners in the race. Her time of 26.30 was a PR.
- Sophomore Meghan Stroh (New Fairfield, Conn.) also ran her fastest 400m, and was the top SNHU runner in the event.
WHAT'S NEXT
- Southern New Hampshire will return to action next Friday and Saturday at the New England Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.
