Results: 15th/18 (2 points) after first day
The SNHU Distance Medley Relay team ran to a seventh-place finish and a new school record on the first day of the New England Championships (NEICAAA) at the Reggie Lewis Center on Friday.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- The DMR team set a Penmen program record 12:08.22 to finish seventh of 15 teams.
- The relay team consisted of sophomore Grace Henson (Cumberland, R.I.), sophomore Meghan Stroh (New Fairfield, Conn.), senior Jill Couto (Newton Junction, N.H.) and sophomore Ashley Corcoran (East Longmeadow, Mass.).
- Junior Maura Coakley (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) ran the 5,000m race. She finished just outside of a scoring position with a ninth place finish in 17:57.20. That a new personal best.
- Freshman Lydia Mathson (Nashua, N.H.) also set a new personal best in the 5,000m with a time of 18:57.10.
- Sophomore Zeandrea Ward (Hartford, Conn.) turned in a 26.12 clocking in the 200m run, eclipsing her personal best set last week of 26.30 at the John Thomas Terrier Classic.
- Ward finished in 23rd place in the competitive prelims on Friday.
WHAT'S NEXT
- Sophomore Ashley Corcoran (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and graduate student Ashley Elder (Bristol, Conn.) will compete for the Penmen on Saturday.
