Top Performances Carry Women's Track & Field To Best-Ever Fourth Place Finish At NE10 Indoor Championships

When and Where: February 21, 2020 – Roxbury, Mass. (Reggie Lewis Track & Field Center)
Results: Southern New Hampshire 4th/11 (96 points)

Southern New Hampshire finished with a program record 96 points, finishing fourth at the NE10 Indoor Track & Field Championships, which concluded Friday at the Reggie Lewis Track and Field Center.   The Penmen finished just two points out of second place.  Graduate student Ashley Elder (Bristol, Conn.) won the shot put and was named Field Athlete of the Meet.  Stonehill won its seventh consecutive Women's Indoor title.  

Standout Performances - The Penmen tallied 58 team points on Friday to go with the 38 they earned on Thursday
10 points- Senior Ashley Elder (Bristol, Conn.), who the weight throw on Thursday, topped the field with a 13.96m in the shot put.
10 points- Junior Maura Coakley (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) won her second race of the meet, taking the 3,000m with a time of 10:25.38.  She also won the 5,000m on Thursday.
10 points- The 4x800 relay team won the race in 9:30.91, easily a new program record.  Sophomore Grace Henson (Cumberland, R.I.), sophomore Olivia Coco (Bedford, N.H.), freshman Alexarae Clark (Deer Park, N.Y.) and sophomore Ashley Corcoran (East Longmeadow, Mass.) ran the legs.
8 points- Senior Jill Couto (Newton Junction, N.H.) ran second in the 800m to freshman Katie Olding (AIC) in 2:16.22.
8 points- Corcoran also finished second to Olding, in the mile run.  Her time of 5:01.43 was the fastest mile in SNHU program history.  Olding ran a 4:59.64 to win the race.
5 points- The Penmen finished fourth in the 4x400 relay with sophomore Meghan Stroh (New Fairfield, Conn.), sophomore Zeandrea Ward (Hartford, Conn.), Couto and junior Megan Decker (New Durham, Conn.) taking part in the race.
4 points- Sophomore Grace Henson (Cumberland, R.I.) added points to the team by finishing fifth in the mile in 5:13.36.
3 points- Stroh finished the 400m in 59.79 to finish in sixth place in the event.

Up next:  
Boston University will host a Last Chance Meet next Thursday and Friday.  SNHU's Couto (800m) and Corcoran (3,000m) will attempt to qualify for the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships.
