Senior Wesley Tobin (Portsmouth, N.H.) and junior Jeffrey Praml (Bridgewater, N.J.) both turned in quality starts, and juniors Dakota Mulcay (Goffstown, N.H.) and Sam Henrie (Middleboro, Mass.) each homered, as the 21st-ranked Southern New Hampshire University baseball team secured a three-game sweep of the defending East Region Champion and eighth-ranked New York Institute of Technology by taking a pair of games Sunday at Lorenzo Memorial Field.

KEY MOMENTS - GAME 1
- Southern New Hampshire jumped out in front with a four-run third, as an RBI triple from Mercedes and a sacrifice fly off the bat of Henrie made it 2-0, before Mulcay delivered a two-run home run that doubled the lead to 4-0.
- After New York Tech grabbed a pair back on an error in the sixth, extended the lead again with a three-run eighth. RBI singles from Chavez and Mulcay, followed by a bases-loaded walk to junior Idelson Taveras (Lawrence, Mass.), did the damage and made it 7-2
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE - GAME 1
- Sophomore Ricky Alexy (Needham, Mass.) struck out two in a pair of hitless innings.
- Mulcay (home run, 3 RBI, 2 runs) and Mercedes (triple, RBI, run) were both 2-for-5.
- Chavez was 2-for-3 with a pair of walks and two runs scored.
- Freshman Michael LaRocca (Vero Beach, Fla.) went 1-for-2 with a pair of walks.
- Taveras (walk, RBI) and Goldstein (run) both finished 0-for-3.
- Henrie went 0-for-4, but drove in a run.
KEY MOMENTS - GAME 2
- Goldstein provided the Penmen with a 2-0 lead in the third inning when he came through with a two-out, two run single to center.
- After New York Tech sliced the lead in half with an unearned run in the fourth, SNHU grabbed it back in the fifth with a sac fly from Mercedes.
- Henrie then led off the sixth with a solo blast to right-center that brought the score to 4-1.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE - GAME 2
- Goldstein finished 2-for-3 with a double and a pair of RBI.
- Senior Jake Coro (Johnston, R.I.) was 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored.
- Freshman Felix B. Diaz Jr. (No. Brunswick, N.J.) turned in a 1-for-3 afternoon at the plate.
- Henrie went 1-for-4 with the home run, RBI and run scored.
- LaRocca was 0-for-1, but walked twice and scored a run.
- Mercedes walked, drove in a run and finished 0-for-2.
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire is now outscoring its opponents, 87-19, during its eight-game winning streak.
- The Penmen complete the three-game sweep of NYIT after the Bears ended SNHU's season a year ago by taking two games in the NCAA East Super-Regional at Penmen Field.
- Mulcay's home run was his team-leading third of the season and the 13th of his career, while Henrie's was his second of the year and fourth in a Penmen uniform.
- Senior Tom Blandini (Bow, N.H.) had his hitting streak snapped at seven games in the opener, while Mercedes saw his 10-gamer end in the second game. LaRocca's six-game hitting streak also ended in game two.
- In his last two starts, Tobin is 2-0 with a 1.93 ERA, giving up four runs - three earned - on 12 hits, while striking out 12 and walking three, over 14 innings. Praml is 2-0 with a 0.69 ERA over his last two starts, allowing just two runs - one earned - on four hits, while punching out 14 and issuing three walks in 13 innings.
- During the eight-game winning streak, SNHU's starting pitchers are 6-0 with a 2.83 ERA in 47-and-two-thirds innings, striking out 51 and walking 14. Looking only at those that have started two games during the streak, the numbers improve to 6-0 with a 1.28 ERA and a 45-to-9 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 42-and-a-third frames.
